What can I say... I'm a class act!

As if I don't embarrass myself enough during the course of the ....

Let's throw in a little uncontrollable coughing and eye watering to sweeten the pot!

Bonus!!

Mascara smeared my eyes??

Even better!

Can I manage to do this with an audience??

Golden!

I had just taken a sip of water to have it go down the wrong hole as the New Guy was entering my office.

It was a magical moment....

Gasping for air a little, I immediately started to cough while my eyes watered uncontrollably.

There was no gaining my composure.

"You know what makes me mad...."

Really??

This guy is going to sit here and complain to me while I choke to death before his very eyes?"

*Cough* *Cough* *Cough*

"No, what?"

I barely squeaked it .

Stars were circling before my eyes and I was certain I was about to pass out... New Guy was oblivious.

"I get so ticked off......."

He went on and on but I never heard a word. I was about one cough away from hacking up a lung when he finally asked if I was listening to him.

" sorry, that water went down the wrong hole just as you were walking in."

", I saw it."

Really???? You SAW it and yet you continued on like I wasn't dying before your very eyes???

The average person would ask if I was ok.

I guess he's not your average man....

Happy Monday!

Shorely manners and such are out the window in main stream society.

    I was thinking about it...

IRL... I would say my social conduct is that of a quiet gentleman. I employ yes sir/no sir and polite consideration for others. There was this woman who met my dad and she raved to him about how my demeanor and personality had impacted her greatly.

Honestly... That was the best gift I could have ever given my dad...

Later... The woman told me "After meeting your father, I see why you are the way you are. Your old school ways." There is maybe a little more to the story which emphasizes the value of manners but yes...

It is nice to see a lady who appreciates chivalry and manners...
It's a shame there aren't more "old school" men out there. I do still appreciate chivalry and manners.... The world would be a much nicer place if we treated each other the way we would like to be treated in return.

He's officially getting the freeze out at work. Boss #2 asked me to start shutting him down when he starts to complain. I said I would, I can't say no, she is my boss. But it should put an end to these scenarios.

Manners and common social graces seem to elude most people. Its been a downward slide for quite a while.
Its become so rare that a simple act is percieved as miraculous. Case in point: a few years back when i was still married i attended a get togother with my wife's coworkers. It was a picnic and i cant recall why it happened but at one point a lady dropped her plastic fork while talking and eating with us. She was embarassed and i got up and grabbed a replacement from another table for her. To me it was just a simple thing. But to her and other women seated with us it was the single greatest act of chivalry ever witnessed. My wife grinned and said " yeah and he's mine!" But i w as genuinely perplexed at the time. I bit my tongue from saying that it was just a plastic fork not a freaking coat over a puddle. But i did say it to the wife and she agreed but said she figured she would lay claim since it was a table of single women with us. Go figure.
And yeah if you had been choking in front of me my first instinct would be to ask if you need water or something. Im selfcentered for sure but damn. Lol
Chivalry has gone by the wayside.... It's just no longer a part of good manners. I think some of it is because of the women's movement and equality.... Not wanting to be treated as weak or inferior. I'll be honest, though, I do like it when a guy holds the door open for me or other chivalrous actions. I see it more as a display of respect for another.

In your situation. That dude lacked manners and social graces and should be subject to public humiliation in the town square.
He hasn't earned any brownie points where I work, that's for sure. I don't think he's developed a single work friend, which says a lot. He's kind of a toxic individual, in a way, because all he does is spread negativity.

You are right, COVID has really intensified the self involved entitlement to a lot of people. I see it every day. I saw with my own eyes yesterday, a man who was not wearing a mask demanded another woman who had hers on improperly to 'cover her damn nose' because she wasn't stopping the spread of anything.

Really??

Yes it does. I had a lot on my plate at work yesterday, and I'd only been in my office for a brief moment to take a break when he showed up. Thankfully, today is a new day.

Wait! Did your boss just one-up him?
One of his complaints was a comparison to when he comes in for the day and when I come in for the day. He said everyone says hello and wishes me a good morning when I come in for the day but when he gets to work nobody even acknowledges him. I felt like asking him if he could think of an underlying reason.... LOL I mentioned in an earlier comment though that my boss wants me to cut my conversations short with him, she doesn't want him talking about his peers.

I really could have used a tissue, my eyes were totally watering. LOL I think most people would at least acknowledged I was in distress and offered assistance.

I think we can thank social media and lack of parental control when it would have best served children who grew up not knowing better.
